Seven Years Later

“What do you mean the flowers aren’t here yet? How can the flowers not be here?” Frantic, Georgie clutched Lee Ann. If there were no flowers on the tables, Marjory would burst into tears, and there could be no tears today.

“Easy,” Lee Ann said soothingly as she squeezed Georgie’s hand. The older woman had stopped working as a housekeeper several years ago, right around the time that Harry had retired as well. Although Georgie could see how comfortable the two had grown over the years, it still surprised her when Harry announced that they’d been wed in a small and private ceremony.

Knowing that for years, Harry had no home except for the room in the barn, Georgie and Jeremy had a house built for the two of them in a corner of their land. Georgie wanted to deed the land to them, but Harry and Lee Ann both claimed that it wasn’t necessary.

“Lydia will be here. I’ve already dispatched Jeremy to see to it that nothing has happened. That woman is always overloading the wagon and breaking those wheels.”

Knowing that Jeremy was looking into it made Georgie feel better. He always knew how to fix everything.

“Well, I can’t check flowers off the list, but I trust that I will be able to soon.” Moving from the living room to the kitchen, she mentally thought of the next item. “Food. I know that most of the town are bringing dishes of their own, but I promised Marjory that we would have sweet cakes available and peach pie. Peach pie is her favorite.”

“I know,” Lee Ann said in an amused voice. “I watched that girl grow up. I know all of her favorites, and the peach pie will be able to come out of the oven soon to cool. I made it just the way that she liked it.”

They walked into the kitchen, and even Georgie didn’t recognize the shriek of terror that came out of her mouth. It was followed immediately by an all too familiar giggle and the pitter patter of two pairs of feet as a blur ran out the side hall and through an open window.

In the wake of their escape, there was flour covering the surfaces of the counters and floors and chairs. Lee Ann gasped, but Georgie could only stare in horror at the mess. “What? Why would they do this? Why would they do this today of all days? I don’t have time to clean this mess. I need to finish the dress, and we must rearrange the seating.”

“It’s just flour. I’ll get this cleaned up in no time with a broom, a cloth, and some water. And just think, the kitchen will be cleaner than ever!”

“Harriette is supposed to be watching them! Where is she?” Georgie growled. Taking a few deep breaths, she calmed herself. “Thank you, Lee Ann, for your help. I honestly do not think I could have pulled this off without you.”

“It is my pleasure. I have been looking forward to this day for a long time.” Lee Ann reached over and gave her a hug. “Now go look for your sister and those sweet little angels.”

“They are hardly sweet little angels today.” Georgie sighed, but they were running out of time. Sorry that she was leaving the kitchen to Lee Ann, Georgie went in search of Harriette. She and her husband Sol were using Jeremy’s old room during the festivities because it was easier than traveling back and forth to their house, but a quick look through the open door told her that Harriette wasn’t inside.

If she was anywhere in the house, Georgie would have heard her sister bellowing, so she left through the back door. Saddling up Shadow, who she’d claimed as her own after she’d fallen in love with him, she made quick search of the ranch before heading down the path to the creek. Jeremy had maintained it so that it still had that wild look but was easy enough to follow.

“Harriette!” Georgie dismounted from Shadow and called out as she slipped through the bushes. Sure enough, Harriette and Sol were sharing a romantic kiss by the creek. Surprised, Harriette shrieked and almost fell into the water if her husband hadn’t caught her.

Since Harriette and Sol had moved to Cross Creek, Harriette and Georgie were closer than ever although that didn’t stop them from squabbling and arguing. Most of the town understand that separately, Georgie and Harriette were strong women, but together, they were a terrifying force, and there was no denying them anything. Sol enjoyed the town and the store, and Harriette had a talent weaving the most beautiful hats which sold well. Although it sometimes seemed like Harriette was never happy, the truth was that she was in love with her life.

“Georgie, what on earth are you doing here?” she said as her cheeks reddened at getting caught.

“What am I doing here? You are supposed to be keeping your eye on Aaron and Addy! They just dumped flour all over the kitchen!”

Sol cringed. “We’re sorry, Georgie. They were cooped up in the house, so we thought some sunshine might help. They were here playing in the creek when they claimed they had an idea and would be right back. We had no idea that they would be trouble.”

“They are nothing but trouble today.” Georgie sighed. “All right. I’m sorry for interrupting. Jeremy went to get the flowers, so they’ll be here soon. Will you two help us decorate them out front? I’m still working on the dress.”

“Of course!” Harriette said as she smoothed a hand down her dress. “We’ll just go wait for them. Where are the darling little angels?”

“I’m sure wherever they are, they’re just trying to be helpful.” It didn’t surprise her one bit that the five-year-olds had scampered from the creek themselves. Although young, they were adventurers and knew every inch of the ranch back and forth. She loved every bit of wildness in them even though she wasn’t quite sure where they got it from. Jeremy, despite taking the wrong path, had turned into a family man who loved having roots, and Georgie couldn’t imagine not having the structure of the ranch, but trying to incorporate the twins into that structure was impossible.

“Aaron! Addy!” she called out as she dismounted from Shadow.

“It’s all right, Georgie, I have them.” Harry laughed as he slowly walked towards her and grabbed Shadow’s reigns. “I found them hiding in the barn, so I’ve put them to work. If you send Lee Ann my way, I’ll have her clean their clothes. They’ve made a bit of a mess of things, but we’ll have them ready in time.”

With a sigh of relief, Georgie hugged Harry. “You are my life saver. Thank you so much. I do not know how I would get through anything without you.”

“Markus is here somewhere. He’s been looking for you. I imagine the two of you have been chasing each other in circles.” His face split into a wide grin at the thought, and even Georgie chuckled.

“All right, well if you see him before me, let him know that I’ll be in my room at the house trying to finalize Marjory’s dress.” Picking up her skirts, she hurried back to the house.

Lee Ann was no longer alone in the kitchen. Instead, she and a pretty blonde were both working on getting things cleaned up. “Jane! I’d heard that you’d received an emergency message from Leeds about a pregnant horse. I wasn’t sure I would see you so soon!” Pleased that Markus’s wife was here before the festivities, she embraced the woman.

After Georgie married Jeremy, under his rightful name, Markus finally admitted that he didn’t want a tutor as much as he wanted a mentor. He had a skill with the animals that even Georgie couldn’t comprehend. They found an animal healer in Bellwoods which was nearly two hours away. As per their agreement, he worked with the healer three days a week and returned to the ranch for the other four.

Jane was the healer’s daughter, and she was every bit as good as her father. After years of complaining about the skirt who followed him about and corrected his technique, Markus finally admitted to himself that he was head over heels in love with her. They were married two years ago, and much to Georgie’s delight, set up their home in Cold Creek although they worked anywhere they could travel to when they were needed. Jane’s father retired during the years that they were married, so they traveled often.

“Nothing was going to keep me from today,” Jane said gayly. “I came in and saw the handiwork of my lovely niece and nephew, Just where are they?”

“Harry has them corralled and put them to work before they could do any more harm. I have to go up and finish the dress. Where is my brother?”

Jane and Lee Ann exchanged an uneasy look, and Georgie pressed her hand on her stomach. “It’s all right. You can tell me. I can handle it. The flowers are late, and the twins tried to decorate with flour, and the dress isn’t finished, but I am handling things, so just tell me what should be next on my list.”

“Markus is taking care of it,” Jane said firmly. “Lee Ann and I are going to finish up here, and then I’ll come help you with the dress.”

“And Jeremy is taking care of the flowers,” Lee Ann reminded her.

“Yes, and Harry said that you could help get the twins clean and ready? Maybe have a word with them about behaving themselves?”

“Child, their name might be Mayhew, but they are Ittners through and through. There isn’t a single one of you who knows how to behave,” Lee Ann said fondly as she reached up and patted her cheek. “Now go on up and finish that dress so Marjory will look beautiful.”

Marjory. Georgie frowned, and Jane’s eyes widened, and she cleared her throat. “Go! Go!”

Whatever thought was forming in her head immediately disappeared. “All right. Thank you ladies for all your help.”

In a few hours, Marjory would be pledging her love to a strapping lad who had, at one time, been the most mischievous red-headed boy in town, and the reason that they couldn’t have the wedding at the church was because Cross Creek was shutting down for the day to celebrate the occasion. In a fascinating turn of events, nearly every available man here and in the surroundings towns had asked for her hand in marriage. For four years, she’d turned down so many proposals that Georgie had lost count.

Who knew that she was waiting for Thomas, her first love, to finally realize that he was in love with her?

Giddy with excitement, Georgie hurried up the stairs.

***

After fixing the broken wheel on the wagon, Jeremy sent Lydia on her way and followed behind her on horse. True to their promise, most of the town had closed up. Doors were locked and the roads were nearly deserted as everyone would be home getting ready for the wedding of the year.

Over the years, the gossip about Marjory had been whispered from ear to ear and joked over pints of ale and shots of whiskey. She was one of the town favorites. As the school mistress, she was beloved by the children and their parents, and in the newspapers; she wrote and published short stories that the town read with veracity. Even though she was already firmly on her path when Jeremy had met her, he couldn’t be more proudof her and Markus both.

Still, while everyone loved her, no one seemed to understand her. Most thought she walked around with her head in the clouds, and every man who asked for her hand claimed that they would ground her.

And that is why she told them no and no over and over again.

It didn’t surprise him that she’d fallen for Thomas. As a boy, he was prone to trouble, but Jeremy knew from experience that the boy had time to turn his life around, and he’d done just that. He was one of the most sought after carpenters in the area. Embracing his artistic side, he created the beautiful carved furniture that people traveled all over the state to purchase.

“Hello, Jeremy,” Marjory said pleasantly as she suddenly appeared next to him on her own horse.

His heart leapt in his throat as he turned his head. She and Markus were both on horses riding back. “Marjory! What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be at the house. You’re getting married!”

“It’s all right.” Markus laughed. “When Lee Ann and Jane realized that she was gone, they sent me looking for her.”

“I just wanted to clear my head for a bit. I always thought I’d have a small wedding, but this is turning out to be such a large affair. I had some strange nerves when I woke up this morning,” Marjory explained. “I may have lost track of time.”

That was nothing new. “Cross Creek loves you, and Georgie is excited to turn your wedding into a gala, but this day is just about you and Thomas. Focus on him, and the rest will fade away.”

“That’s exactly what Markus said.” She gave him a soft smile. “You two are so much alike sometimes.”

“Am not,” Markus said instantly, but there was no heat or anger in his voice. As the boy had grown into a man, he and Jeremy had grown close although they still butted heads.

Just like siblings.

Marjory shot ahead and kept pace with the wagon as she peered inside. “Oh, Lydia! These are beautiful flowers! You made some excellent choices!”

As she and the flower girl started talking colors and blooms, Jeremy took a moment to be thankful for all that he had. Even after seven years, with a wife and three new siblings, and then with two children, he could not believe that this was his life. God had truly blessed him, and he thought every day about the strange events that led him to Georgie’s doorstep and finally to her heart.

They had already decided to name their son Aaron after the young man who’d helped Jeremy, and if they had a girl, they were going to name her Adaline after Georgie’s grandmother. When she’d given him twins, he’d been so filled with love that he spent the next few nights awake and staring at the beautiful little faces that he’d helped create.

Now, he was lucky if they could get the twins to stay in their beds for longer than four hours before they were finding some sort of trouble to get into.

His life was full.

And now he was about to gain another brother. Without Marjory knowing, Jeremy took Thomas under his wing a little more than a year ago. Georgie and Jeremy invested in his business and had already earned their money back. It was obvious that Thomas and Marjory were in love with each other, but they both needed a little nudge, and if anyone understood that, it was Georgie and Jeremy.

Lydia turned the wagon to the road to the house, and when they arrived, they were swarmed by the ranch hands who were all eagerly clamoring to help. Less than an hour later, the front field was transformed with tables and chairs decorated with flowers and ribbons. Thomas had made an altar just for the wedding, and the town reverend had agreed to officiate beneath it.

A familiar old man, leaning against his cane and slowly walking towards him. “So today is the day that the last of Douglas’s children find their happy ending,” William said hoarsely. The years had taken their toll on him, but he was as hardy as ever and still sat behind his bar and kept out a watchful eye even though he let younger backs work for him.

“Not their happy ending. More like a happy beginning.” Jeremy pulled out a chair and held it for the old man. “You’re early.”

Plus, I wanted a good seat.” William winked. “I’m sure Douglas will be looking down today. I think he’d be proud of his children. Four happy and successful children all finding love. It’s any man’s dream.”

“Uncle William!” A tornado descended on them, and Jeremy just managed to grab his children before they hit the table and knocked it and William over. They squealed with happiness as he pulled them both under his arms and held them there. Their feet kicked out wildly behind him.

Leaning forward, William dutifully kissed the twins. Although they called him uncle, William, was more like a grandfather to them which was fitting since Jeremy had come to see William as a father figure. “Hello, my darlings. Did you help put all of this together? It looks lovely.”

Immediately, they both launched into different tales of how they had tried to help. William nodded as though he understood every word. “All right. If you two sit quietly in the grass until your mother comes down, then I will tell you a story. How does that sound?”

“Yes! Story!” they shrieked.

Jeremy put Aaron and Addy down, and they immediately plopped on the ground and stared at William adoringly. Harriette and Sol had joined them as well, so he knew that the twins wouldn’t be able to get into too much trouble.

As the yard started filling up with people, Jeremy went to the house to help. Lee Ann was setting out the rest of the food, and the table was crowded with cakes and pies and casseroles. It all smelled delicious.

Thomas arrived with his parents. His red hair gleamed under the sun, and his eyes searched the crowd for his bride who had yet to arrive. Jeremy gave him a nod and headed to the house to find both of their beloveds.

He walked into the living room just in time to see Markus giving Jane a kiss before he took her arm to escort her out. “Ladies,” he called up the stairs. “It’s time.”

Marjory walked down first with a wide grin on her face. She wore the prettiest pale yellow dress with green bows and ribbons, and her dark hair was pinned up in curls that spilled down her neck. So much had changed in the past seven years. She blossomed into a beautiful woman, but there was still that wondrous sparkle in her eyes. “She needs a minute,” Marjory explained.

“Your groom is waiting for you, and we’ll be out in a minute.” Kissing her on the forehead, he jerked his head and indicated for her to head to the arch. They wouldn’t dare start without Georgie, and he had a feeling he knew why she was lagging.

Sure enough, when he headed up the stairs, he found her sitting cross-legged on the bed with tears streaming down her face. “Come here, sweetheart,” he murmured as he took her hand and pulled her to her feet. “I know that you’re happy and sad all at the same time, but you have to pace yourself. We still have the wedding and celebration to get through.”

“I know,” she sniffed. “I just can’t help it. Markus is already gone, and now she’ll be leaving. It’s wonderful and sad at the same time.”

“Well, it’s not possible for the house to feel empty with your babies running around.”

“My babies!” A large smile crossed her face, and the tears dried. “They are wonderful. We have such a wonderful life together, Jeremy.”

Together, they crossed the room to look out the window. The guests were starting to take their seats, and the reverend was waiting under the arch. Near the hedges, Thomas and Marjory were holding hands and talking softly. Markus and Jane were playing with the twins, and Harriette and Sol were seated at the table with Lee Ann, Harry, and William.

This was his town. This was his family.

“We do have a wonderful life. If it’s possible, I think I love you more today than I did when I married you. You’re an amazing wife and the most wonderful mother.”

Leaning her face up, she curved her arm around his head and brought him down for a kiss. It still warmed his heart. When they parted, she looked out the window and gasped. “Did he just kiss her? He just kissed her! Jeremy, what are you doing? We must get them married right now. Hurry!”

She flew from the room, and Jeremy chuckled and took one last look at the view below.

Yes, a wonderful life indeed.

    2. I enjoyed this book very much but I was very distracted too many times. Who ever is doing your proof reading needs to step up to doing better job. There are too many extra words and poor spacing where woods are run together. I did not document them this time but I will the next time I read one of your early releases. It looks like you proofed is going too fast. Poor proofing makes for interrupted reading and is a big distraction for me.

      1. Glad that you enjoyed the book! I really appreciate your kind and honest feedback! It’s always welcome, as it helps me become better and better. I will keep them in mind and will work closer with my editor to get them handled in the future.

      2. Yes, there were a few extra words and a few words run together, however this would not bother most readers as they read and enjoy a wonderful story. I, myself, found it to be fascinating. Thank you Aurora!

      3. Agreed. Needs some serious editing in the grammar, spelling, and punctuarion department. Nice story, otherwise.

    3. Just a wonderful story! I could picture everything as you described the ranch, horses, their home and family members. The “Special Place” was indeed special with new love and new beginnings! 7. This is my first time to read your work! I really enjoyed it. I love reading a book that is more than a novella. I enjoyed meeting your characters and seeing the twists of the storyline! I always feel a bit of loss when I finish a good book. I wonder how things turned out in their lives! I will definetly be reading more!

    10. I did so enjoy this book. The family went through so much tragedy that it was hard not to feel for their sorrows. But, I am so glad that they found each other and that Jeremy and Georgie were able to put his past behind them. They deserve to have a happy ending. That each of the others were able to find love and find n ally be content with their lives is wonderful.
I so enjoy it when you put the extended epilogues on your stories. I like to know what happens when the story ends. To be able to find out what happens after a few years is wonderful. It keeps me from just not knowing the end of the story. I am sure that I am not the only one who likes to know what took place after the end of the story. It is like the ending of a movie and you wonder what happened after the credits roll.
I think that you have a great talent for writing these stories, and I hope you never tire of writing them. I know that I will never tire of reading them.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and talents with us your readers.

      Thank you,
      Ruby Hanson

    11. I really enjoyed this book but I don’t care for the extended Epilogue. I would rather it be part of the book and not separate.

    12. Loved it. The twists and turns were great and kept my attention. Keep up the great work. I loved the protracted of a strong woman who was supported by her stron family and unsure husband. The ending was perfect. Joyce

    13. A really wonderful storyline, I could not put the book down, I loved all the characters, even the horses, Thank you for writing such loving heartwarming stories, if I did not have your books I would not know what to do with myself. I bought most of them, and got the free ones, they are in my library, all lined up to be read. I will get through all of them eventually, so I hope you carry on writing, your imagination, is superb. Thank You, Rita Colex

    14. —-published short stories that the town read with “veracity “. Really?? Fire your proof reader! Lots of distracting errors. Loved the story though!

    15. This was such a sweet love story wrapped in redemption, forgiveness, and sweet family memories. This is a book I will NOT forget. I would read this beautiful story again and again.

    16. Absolutely enjoyed this book. From start to finish it held my attention. My first read by this author, and not my last!

Lovely story and reminded me of “Little House on the Prairie”. Joy!!!!!!

The author has a super descriptive form of writing that I could instantly picture people and surroundings.

    17. I really enjoyed this book very much! It was the best love story that I have read in a long time, I hope to read many more of your books, keep up the great writing, you rock!

    18. Another fantastic read. I felt as though I was there with Jeremy and Georgie all through the storyline. However I felt that the extended epilogue was a bit disjointed. I also felt as though Georgie showed more fondness for her twin siblings than her kids as nothing was mentioned about her relationship with them. Just a bit more would have been lovely. However a good read.

    19. This story was so incredibly well written. The wonderfully developed characters were believable and stayed true to their personalities. The pace was absolutely perfect with nothing rushed or quickly wrapped up in the end. My biggest surprise came when the bartender William calls him “Jeremy” and I immediately thought it was a print mistake, only to find out that it wasn’t! If I was to change anything, I would have had Jeremy meet and propose to Georgie at the creek and had the Epilogue stay current with their wedding and then go 7 yrs ahead. Still think this is the best book of yours that I have read so far 🙂 I truly enjoyed it! Well done Aurora!

    20. I loved the characters in the story.
I really like reading about strong women.
I had read this book some time ago, but when I ran across
      it again, I re-read it.
I especially liked Jeremy and William…..!
Carter and Leo were great villains.

  1. Aurora, Loved this books and the characters. Can’t wait to continue reading your novels. So nice to enjoy a clean romantic family-oriented story

  2. An interesting story about different situations and characters all leading to family, growth, death and restoration.

  3. Yes, I really enjoyed the story. I knew that Georgie and Jeremey would be together but couldn’t guess how that would happened. Thank you.

  4. A really intriguing story that kept me interested. Good character development as well. Only improvement would be better proof reading. Lots of errors that make things confusing (saying the wrong name, using the wrong word, getting situations mixed up. )
Continue your creativity though, you have that down pat!

    1. Glad that you enjoyed the book, my dear Cher! I really appreciate your kind and honest feedback! It’s always welcome, as it helps me become better and better. I promise, I’ll check with my editor about these.

  5. I loved this story and the extended epilogue. All of your books draw me in and hold my interest. I look forward to your next book.

  6. Aurora did it again, like all of her other books that I have read, I fell in with it too. I well keep looking for her books that I have noticed t read yet. THANKS AURORA.

  7. A great story teller you are. I enjoyed it very much, penance and forgiveness, are what makes for a strong marriage! Unconditional
    Love.

  8. It was a story that held my attention. I thought the extended epilogue told enough to let me knew what happened to them. I enjoyed it very much.Maybe another Linda but not me from now on I will be Linda N.

  9. A WONDERFUL storyline, an amazing portrayal of characters. A secret buried in the Ranch was very well written, I enjoyed it tremendously! The Epilogue was icing on the cake!!!
My only suggestion is to your prove reader. There were many, many mistakes as well as mixing up of characters.

    1. Thank you so much, my dear Marie! I really appreciate your kind and honest feedback! It’s always welcome, as it helps me become better and better. I’ll check with my editor about these.

  10. Great story. Loved the characters. It kept me up later than normal as I had a hard time stopping before the end of the book. Some errors however, it was a good read.

  11. I loved this story. You did a great job and would not hesitate to read another book of yours.

Thank-you for all your hard work!

  12. Once again you provided a very enjoyable book. I am still of the opinion however that the extended epilogue should be in the main book and not separate.

    1. Hello, my dear Victoria! Thank you for your comment. The story has already an epilogue included and is completes either way. However, the extended epilogue is just some bonus material, containing information about the heroes’ lives after some time. It’s just complementary to the main story and that’s why it is published separately.

  13. Good story. Poor proofreading and editing . Why isn’t this epilogue just part of the book? Why do you have to sign up for it? Why are you collecting email addresses?

  14. I loved this book and the remarkable storyline. Thank you for the romance, suspence, and the endearing friendships found in this book.

  15. You do indeed have a gift for writing. I enjoyed your characters and liked the epilogue.

Only critique is to have proofreaders try to be more diligent. I was able to capture your message, despite having to auto correct in my head.

You now have the potential to create new stories for Georgie’s siblings or even her adventure seeking children.

  16. Loved the story line. Wished that it had more grit at times. Along with more hot romance. Thank you for the extended epilogue. It was nice to see what happens years down the road. Definitely a good book to read.

  17. I agree with Terri, that I too could picture everything. It was a wonderful story and loved the extended epilogue as well.
I also agree with others that you need more help in finding errors and I suggest you form a beta team. There job is to read your work like and editor of at least as a reader who does find mistakes like those that get irritated. We all have strengths such as we’re a few are good with spelling, some grammar, while others will find the places where something is needed or is too wordy, or who can do it all. It’s different from ARC readers who should also be looking for things as well. In all that helps you and your editor and you get a better product to offer.

  18. what a wonderful story. I always love the fact that you never know how the story will end. I never want to stop reading. You have out done yourself again. I look forward to your next boo please if you enjoy a great love story don’t miss this one.

  19. I really enjoyed this book! The character development and descriptive details were wonderful! My apologies for not responding sooner.

  20. This was a good love story. Georgie had her hands full with her brother and sisters and running the ranch. It made me happy that she and Jeremy got married. I’m a 74 year old sucker for romance.

  21. I loved the book. You are obviously a great storyteller. I loved all the characters and thought they were very well developed. I thought the pace of the book is good too. Although I saw the errors some of the others mentioned I didn’t feel the least bit distracted by them. The storyline was so very well organized and the pace of the book was so good with such interesting characters that I plan to rate the book 5 stars on both Amazon and Goodreads as well.

  22. I page turner. I’m in love with Jeremy and Gerogie characters. I cried and I laughed. I even felt the lost also. I’m not sure if my I can give the book enough justice with my words but I truly fell in love with the main characters and also the supporting ones💕💕💕💕💗💝👌👌👌👌

  23. A great read that is fantastic & heartfelt. The twists & turns kept me turning pages. Georgie proved to show true courage when it involved her family. I loved the story of forgiveness & redemption by all. Aurora, you are very gracious in how you receive criticism from the readers. Mistakes by the proof reader should be sent to you via PM. None the less, the book was delightful.

  24. I really enjoyed the book, from the beginning to the end. I agree with everyone, however, the proof reading is terrible. Many errors create a distraction.

  25. I loved the story, my only fault with it is the editing, having to re-read some parts to understand what you were writing was rather annoying, after reading the extended epilogue I was disappointed that you included the twins story line and Harry and lee Anne’s in such a brief way, I would have loved reading books about their own story line just like Georgies and Jeremy’s, instead of the watered down version, please think about writing individual books on each character if it involves a family, in saying this, I loved the story line.

  26. I started to read this book and had a hard time putting it down. I actually felt like I was right there with the characters. When it ended, I was actually sad. I felt like I had come to know Georgie and Jeremy along with the others. Thank you for letting me have the opportunity to read this. I look forward to reading another one of your books!

  27. I never let errors get in the way of a good story. It was cohesive and entertaining. I would have liked more detail in William’s past as I felt that would have certainly sharpened the tale. Ah well, maybe another time…

  28. A very interesting story. Georgia was too busy looking after everything and everyone to care about finding love for herself. Gregory had a sad life and didn’t feel he deserved to be forgiven. A co!election of diverse and interesting personalities. Some unexpected developments.

  29. I enjoyed reading your story. However, too many proofreading errors detracted from the story’s flow.

    1. Thank you for your comment, my dear Jerome. Glad that you enjoyed the book! I really appreciate your kind and honest feedback! It’s always welcome, as it helps me become better and better. Have a lovely day!

  30. Awesome Story. on to More of your Stories .. When comforting a Grammar Nazi

    “LJ”

  31. I totally enjoyed reading it. I don’t look for mistakes in grammar. I am too busy keeping up with story line to worry about it. It kept me reading till the end. I really think it may be the second time I read it but it kept me reading it and enjoying. I read all the time and will be adding you to my favorite authors and following you. Keep up the good writing.

  32. The gift of family, comes at a cost. For one character, an orphanage did not offer a true promise of family. After striking out on his own, some terrible choices had been made. Guidance was given in one of his darkest hours, that had started the seed of hope. It was going to take him to a whole new meaning of family, love and trust. Great reading.

  33. I loved the theme of redemption, interactions and growth among family members, the romance, character development, and learning to let go of the past in order to bless the future. Proof reading needs to improve, but I still found the story very touching & meaningful.

    1. Lovely to hear dear Kathleen. I’m so glad you found what you like in my book and I appreciate your kind feedback, I’ll do my best to be more vigilant with proofreading. 🙂

  34. A feel good story. So loved this story of the strong independent woman who thought she needed nothing. She found out she needed her family, her town and her love more than anything. Page turner because of all the action in the story. Thanks again.

  35. A very entertaining read. I loved the characters who were well crafted and robustly held up a good tale. You don’t want to like Jeremy but somehow you find yourself wishing you too could erase his troublesome past, Douglas clearly saw the man below the surface and set in motion a series of events that would lead him to a more fulfilling life. It was a tale full of twists and turns and just when you think all is lost you tugged on the old heart strings and brought a tear or two to my eye and a massive lump in my throat A beautiful conclusion to the story. Love the epilogue, well one always wants more.
    Thanks
